I just recently started having failure to extract and double feed and semi stove pipe issues. I found a YouTube video from another guy that referred to this video saying that this extractor kit will work on my Banshee and fix that problem.
Do you have any feedback on this? I have contacted cmmg and they want pictures of the malfunctions. I told the guy from CMMG that I didnt take any pics and it's going to be awhile before I get out there to do some more shooting. Apparently they are aware of the issue but still want me to show them something. So I ordered two of these kits and I'm going to try this fix and hopefully it fixes the problem before they decide to get back to me.
I hope this kit fits in right on my Banshee like that other YouTuber specified on his video. Has anyone else tried this extractor spring upgrade kit on other than an AR?
I see primary arms has a 4 and 5 coil 3 pack of these from bcm. Which way is best on a I'm watching his video and doing it at the same time, what side of the plunger goes back into the slot, The Wider or narrow?
Or maybe it may not be suitable in all environmental conditions such as the arctic? Some thoughts would be appreciated. Looks like you're also possibly over gassed some of your rounds after the upgrade were throwing at o clock. Great video, thank you! Is it me or am I the only one the noticed your gun is ejecting at approx the 1 o'clock position. I havent checked my 5. See this from their site. I'm a big fan of your channel!
Would this make my mid length 16 inch barrel ar more reliable or should I leave the stock spring? Thank you. Very informative video. Had the same problem with my ar Bought one and replaced it. Solved the problem.
Was able to empty a full 20 round mag of steel casing. Bolt would not to battery either now closes nicely. But for the Life of me I can not get the Extractor Pin to budge, I cant feel any movement in the extractor when I attempt to put pressure on it as you show before trying to push the pin out. Honestly, I dont even need the Upgrade as the BCG is brand new and only reason I ordered the upgrade spring was a few guys when reviewing the Lantac E-BCG stated they had issues until they did this upgrade.
So until I have problems I dont need to upgrade the spring. But at this point would still like to know what I am doing wrong and why this wont budge. Even if just for cleaning or plain old curiosity sake. That pin was hard to get in as you described. I wrapped the bolt in cloth with an empty round held into the end of the bolt, and gently tighten the vice till the extractor was perfectly in place then pushed the pin home.
Thank you for your video, I was clueless from where to start. Most bolts bring the old 3 coil spring. The bolt locks back but the spent casing is just chilling inside the action..
Should i be able tho manipulate the extractor easily with me finger? Cause i can. I want to Froglube my AR bolt and needed to see how to get to the extractor. My bolt came with this mod installed. Spring tension was so great that the extractor would not ride up over the casing rim. The jam was so tight that I had to remove the upper from the lower and "persuade" the carrier back and remove it from the upper. AR » Build It Yourself. Recently installed mine on my very first AR, figured I'd take some pictures along the way to show others how to do the same install.
We're going to start with the bolt carrier group already removed, if you don't know how to do this Link also covers my first few steps, but I have them listed anyways in order to have a more complete walk-through on the install process.
Step 1. Remove the firing pin retaining pin. You shouldn't need anything other than the punch for this, since that pin tends to come out easily. It can only be pushed out one way, since it's a cotter pin loops at one end. Step 2. Remove firing pin. Step 3. Step 4. Pull bolt out from carrier. Step 5. Remove extractor retaining pin. You may need something to tap the punch with, just don't use a big hammer because you could damage the pin, or the bolt.
Step 6. Remove extractor, should come right off now that the pin is removed. Take note of the small spring with the blue or black plastic insert in the middle, on the bottom side of the extractor.
Don't worry about pulling too hard, this stuff won't break and if it does Step 8. Installing the actual kit I only took one picture for this, so I'll cover several things in this step. Put the new insert in the same area you removed the original from on the extractor, bigger side goes in. Now put the new extractor spring over the new extractor insert, and give it a little bit of a clockwise turn to "lock" it in. Last, put the new o-ring over the new extractor spring. Sorry for the blurry picture, but everything looks about the same as it did when you removed the extractor Step 9.
Place your newly upgraded extractor back on the bolt, and notice how you can't easily hold it down with your fingers to put that extractor retaining pin back in, due to the new spring. This is where you'll need some sort of padding and a pair of vicegrips, the padding is used between the bolt and the jaws of the vicegrips to keep from damaging anything. Once you get that extractor retaining pin inserted, re-assemble everything and enjoy your newly upgraded rifle that YOU did the work on yourself!
Thanks for posting pics of the process.
