In , KMEA began classifying bands according to the size of the school, necessitating the addition of a 5A class. Their Director of Bands is H. Brent Barton. The girl's track team won Regionals, and the boy's track team came in second in the Regionals. Both the girls' and boys' track teams placed 1st in the Regionals. The MCHS archery team placed 1st in region with the highest team score in the nation, 5th in state and 9th in nationals in The team qualified for nationals.

Ryan Long, who has placed 2nd and 3rd in national NASP tournaments, and who is also the first person to shoot a perfect score of in a NASP tournament, signed for the archery team at the University of the Cumberlands in The MCHS Mock Trial team was also the state runner up in and , losing to Montgomery County in the championship round, and in , losing to Dixie Heights in the championship round.
