Examine whether the metrics go beyond the perceived prestige of the undergraduate institution, grade point average, and standardized test scores. Determine whether the application process considers a variety of metrics, including but not limited to whether the candidate took advantage of available research opportunities, the ability to communicate within the discipline, and letters of recommendations.
