More rudder trim was required when transitioning to climb, cruise and descent than in an unmodified P All power controls are moved full forward at the beginning of the takeoff roll and left there until leveling off in cruise. Other than a greater need for rudder, handling is pure Cessna P—well-behaved and harmonized in all axes throughout the envelope, but heavy. The airplane is utterly predictable and will handle impressive crosswinds.

The controls are effective—it just requires effort to displace them. That solidity and predictability may be one of the reasons the airplane has long been popular. Performance Once the gear and flaps were up, a cruise climb of knots was set. I did not see less than FPM all the way to FL, even though the airplane picked up about a quarter inch of rime ice between and feet. The time to FL was just over 20 minutes.

In my experience, an unmodified P would take twice that time. At FL, I made cruise speed in runs in opposite directions. TIT was degrees F; the hottest cylinder was degrees F. Vitatoe said that when the OAT is above standard, the CHTs will run at what he considers to be max— degrees F—and it may be necessary to partially open the cowl flaps. I also did a check at feet, as it is often asserted that turbos are a liability below 10, feet. With the lower exhaust backpressure of turbonormalizing versus ground boosting, I am not convinced that cruising at lower altitudes hurts economy.

Karam's play might almost qualify as deep-delving reportage, so clearly does it illuminate the current, tremor-ridden landscape of contemporary America. Breaking with tradition, Erik Blake has brought his Pennsylvania family to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter's apartment in lower Manhattan.

Unfolding over a single scene, this "delirious tragicomedy" Chicago Sun-Times by acclaimed young playwright Stephen Karam "infuses the traditional kitchen-sink family drama with qualities of horror in his portentous and penetrating work of psychological unease" Variety , creating an indelible family portrait.

The Humans is a major discovery, a play as empathetic as it is clear-minded, as entertaining as it is honest. Either they are culminating examples of existing ideas, or groundbreaking examples of new things entirely. I should add that, for all this, the play is rackingly funny even as it pummels the heart and scares the bejesus out of you.

You watch them drive each other crazy, but you also want them at your own dinner, quite badly. You'll be surprised how much.

Few writers of his generation have achieved anything quite like The Humans, a play about the horrors of ordinary life and the love we need to counter them. Having limned The Humans with gorgeous naturalism, Karam boldly forces us into a world beyond the familiar. The Humans rather considers the trials its highly imperfect subjects face in a highly imperfect world, and resolves, without ever approaching sentimentality, that love is nonetheless resilient.

Karam has an eye for detail on a near cellular level, an ear for authentic dialogue and a superlative ability to balance laughter and sorrow. That alone should keep this lovely play, an Off Broadway transfer, running in its inviting new Broadway house until kingdom come. It has completely earned its place on the Broadway stage; and does so without the supposed benefit of star casting. What will sell it is the play itself.
